Course Overview
The Dive Theory is comprised of 5 sections with corresponding videos, knowledge reviews and a final exam. This can be done on location or covered in the comfort of your home in your own time through PADI eLearning online. This system is well designed and you will find that you have acquired a lot of knowledge over a short period of time to fully understand the fundamentals and safe diving practices with the confidence and understanding of how all of the equipment functions.
The Confined / Shallow water skills are also broken into 5 sections, here you will build on the knowledge gained through the dive theory and practice all of the necessary skills in a swimming pool or shallow beach area with conditions of that of a swimming pool, except that you will experience the curious reef fish bustling about while you train.
Open Water dives are what you have been waiting for and the time has come. Your first 2 dives will be to a maximum of 12m where you will again practice the skills that you covered during your confined sessions, thereafter you will be led on your first dive by your Instructor to enjoy all the wonders that await in this whole new world.
Your 3rd and 4th dives will be to a maximum of 18m where again you will perform some of your previously acquired skills before surfacing after dive 4 as one of the newest members of the PADI family!
Diver prerequisites
• 10 years old Note: 10-14 year old divers earn a Junior Open Water Diver certification.
As PADI Open Water Diver, why not explore new diving experiences? Take your diving to the next level by enhancing your skills with the Peak Performance Buoyancy dive or learn how to capture amazing underwater photographs with a Digital Underwater Photography Dive. Maybe you have heard of the HTMS Sattakut, Koh Tao’s very own wreck which is waiting to be explored should you choose a wreck dive as part of your Advanced Open Water course, or maybe you’re curious as to what the reef looks like at night, the Night Adventure dive will answer all of those questions for you!
The Advanced Open Water course consists of 5 Adventure dives of which 2, being Deep and Navigation, are compulsory. Choose 3 dives which interest you and we will be ready and waiting to have you explore these fantastic new experiences. Each Adventure Dive is the first section of a Specialty Diver course, should you decide you are particularly interested in Deep Diving, this could be achieved by signing up for the Deep Diver Specialty course whereby you obtain the Deep Diver Specialty certification over and above your Advanced Open Water certification.
The Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of the following:
Adventure Dive Theory for your selected dives
Knowledge Reviews and Instructor briefings
5 Dives
No exam is required for this certification.
*Please note that a Deep Dive to 30m and an Underwater Navigation dive are compulsory.

Minimum age prerequisites are specific to each Adventure Dive
Note : 10 and 11 year old divers may only earn a Junior Adventure Diver certification.
